How to use Stereo & Mono Converter
- 1
Upload one supported audio file. Its decoded channel count determines whether the workspace selects Stereo to Mono or Mono to Stereo.
- 2
For a stereo source, choose Mix Left + Right, Left channel only or Right channel only. Mono sources are duplicated equally into two output channels.
- 3
Switch between Original and Converted and listen from the same timeline position while checking the displayed source and target layouts.
- 4
Select Same as source or another output format, set a bitrate for lossy codecs, click Convert Channels and download the completed file.

About Stereo & Mono Converter
Channel layout is easy to overlook until a recording plays from only one speaker or a delivery system requires mono. Stereo & Mono Converter reads the decoded source rather than relying on its filename, then presents only the direction that makes sense for the detected one- or two-channel audio.
A stereo file offers three meaningfully different downmixes. Mix Left + Right preserves both sides at a safer averaged level, while the single-channel choices can rescue material where one side contains the wanted microphone and the other does not. Going the other way is intentionally conservative: mono is duplicated to both outputs, not marketed as synthetic stereo.
Original and Converted previews share position and use the actual prepared PCM channel mapping. Export supports the project's practical audio containers and bitrate controls while keeping duration, pitch and timing stable. Decoding, comparison and encoding remain local.
