How to use Word & Character Counter
- 1
Type or paste content into the Text field, or drop one TXT, PDF, or DOCX file into the file area. Choose file provides the same import options.
- 2
Wait for document extraction when importing a file. PDF progress is shown page by page, while DOCX files are read as raw text and UTF-8 TXT files are decoded directly.
- 3
Review the live totals for words, characters, characters without spaces, sentences, paragraphs, lines, and estimated reading time.
- 4
Click Copy text to copy the extracted or entered content, or Clear all to remove the text, file reference, and statistics.

About Word & Character Counter
Length limits matter in many different contexts: an application may restrict characters, an editor may request a word target, and a speech or article may need to fit a reading window. Word & Character Counter reports the measurements together so you can assess both scale and structure without moving between separate utilities.
Counts update from the current text and distinguish total characters from characters without whitespace. Sentence and word segmentation use the browser's language-aware capabilities when available, while paragraphs are separated by blank lines and line totals follow actual line breaks. Reading time is deliberately transparent, using 200 words per minute and whole-minute rounding.
Direct TXT, PDF, and DOCX import is useful when the source is already stored as a document. The importer extracts countable text locally and clearly reports files it cannot read, including scans without a text layer. No uploaded document or entered passage leaves the browser.
