How to use Compare Text
- 1
Paste content into Original text and Revised text, or import a separate UTF-8 TXT file on either side.
- 2
Choose Lines, Words, or Characters from Comparison level to control the detail used for the difference report.
- 3
Optionally enable Ignore case, Ignore whitespace changes, or Ignore blank lines. These settings normalize the comparison without altering either source field.
- 4
Click Compare texts. Added content appears in green, removed content in red, and the summary reports added, removed, and unchanged units. Use Cancel comparison if a large comparison is taking too long.
- 5
Select Copy comparison for a unified plain-text report, Download comparison to save text-comparison.txt, or Swap texts to reverse the original and revised sides.

About Compare Text
A useful text comparison should adapt to the question being asked. A reviewer checking reordered list items needs line-level changes, an editor needs altered words, and a proofreader may need to find one missing character. Compare Text provides all three views from the same pair of drafts.
Optional normalization separates meaningful edits from differences in capitalization, horizontal spacing, or empty lines. The diff itself runs in a worker so the interface remains responsive, and the result distinguishes additions, removals, and unchanged material with both color and text labels. Swapping the inputs immediately reverses the direction of the review.
The visual result can be copied or downloaded as a unified plain-text report that records the selected settings and summary totals. Both passages stay in the browser, whether they were pasted or read from UTF-8 TXT files.
