Find Duplicate Files

Separate genuine byte-identical copies from lookalike filenames and estimate the storage their redundant copies occupy.

Add files to scan

Choose or drop files of any type. Files are not hashed until you start the scan.

Size grouping, SHA-256 calculation, and exact byte verification run locally. This tool identifies files only and never deletes, moves, or uploads them.

How to use Find Duplicate Files

  1. 1

Choose or drop at least two files of any type. Folder-relative paths are shown when the browser provides them.

  2. 2

Click Find Duplicates. Unique-size files are excluded first, equal-size candidates receive SHA-256 hashes, and matching candidates are checked byte by byte.

  3. 3

Inspect each confirmed group, its shared checksum and potential space savings. Select which entry should be marked Keep; the remaining entries are labeled Duplicate.

  4. 4

Use Copy for an individual SHA-256 value or Export Report for a CSV summary. Review only—the tool does not delete or move files.

About Find Duplicate Files

Duplicate cleanup is risky when it relies on similar names, dates or thumbnails. Find Duplicate Files deliberately ignores those surface clues and looks for exact content equality across any mixture of file types. A photo, archive or document can therefore be recognized as the same data even after one copy was renamed.

The scan is staged to avoid reading every byte unnecessarily. Exact byte size forms the first candidate groups, SHA-256 narrows those groups further, and a final chunked comparison confirms the result rather than trusting a hash alone. Progress reflects the real hashing and verification work performed on the device.

Results are organized by recoverable space and preserve source paths where available. Marking one entry as Keep makes the report practical for later manual cleanup, while CSV export records the evidence and chosen states. No automated deletion is offered: files are never uploaded, edited, moved or removed by this workspace.
