Your DOCX files are opened, parsed, and compared locally in this browser. They are not uploaded.

How to use Compare DOCX Files

  1. 1

Add the baseline document under Original DOCX and the edited version under Revised DOCX; each file is captured independently when loaded.

  2. 2

Choose Rich Text Diff to include document structure and styling, or Plain Text Diff when only readable text matters.

  3. 3

Set the Ignore case, Ignore whitespace or Ignore formatting options that suit the review, then click Compare DOCX Files.

  4. 4

Read the summary and Changes panel, or use the previous and next controls to jump through individual differences.

  5. 5

Choose Side by Side or Unified view and search either version while keeping the comparison itself unchanged.

About Compare DOCX Files

A useful document comparison must protect the identity of both versions. Compare DOCX Files reads Original and Revised into independent snapshots before analysis, so an edited file chosen later cannot overwrite the baseline already held in memory. That isolation is especially important when both versions share a filename.

Rich Text Diff follows the meaningful order of WordprocessingML rather than trying to recreate Word's printed pages. It aligns paragraphs, headings, lists and tables, then exposes supported text, formatting, link and image changes. Plain Text Diff offers a leaner view when typography and structure are irrelevant to the review.

Character-level highlighting makes small revisions visible inside their surrounding blocks, while side-by-side and unified presentations serve different reading styles. All package reading, comparison and search work happens locally; neither document is uploaded or modified.
