Compare Spreadsheets

Find meaningful changes between two workbooks or data files even when rows move, records change order or worksheets have been renamed.

Original File

Drop or choose XLSX, XLS, XLSM, XLSB, ODS, CSV, or TSV

Modified File

Drop or choose XLSX, XLS, XLSM, XLSB, ODS, CSV, or TSV

Files are parsed and compared locally. Macros are never loaded or executed, formulas are not recalculated, and external links are never fetched.

How to use Compare Spreadsheets

  1. 1

Add the Original File and Modified File in XLSX, XLS, XLSM, XLSB, ODS, CSV or TSV format; each upload is stored as an independent memory snapshot.

  2. 2

Review the worksheet pairs. Exact names are matched automatically, while renamed, added or removed sheets can be paired manually.

  3. 3

Choose Cell Position, Matching Rows or Key Column, then configure the relevant dimensions and Advanced Settings.

  4. 4

Press Compare Spreadsheets and use the worksheet selector, change filter, search and previous or next controls to investigate results.

  5. 5

Switch between Side by Side and Differences Only, then download a detailed CSV report or an XLSX report with summary and difference sheets.

About Compare Spreadsheets

Spreadsheet differences are not always coordinate differences. A newly inserted row can make every later cell appear changed, while sorted records may contain the same information in a different order. This comparison workspace therefore offers three models for fixed templates, evolving row sequences and order-independent datasets.

Worksheet pairing remains explicit: exact names are proposed automatically, but the user decides how renamed or unmatched sheets relate. Values, stored formulas and available style metadata can be compared with controls for case, whitespace, recognizable dates, numeric tolerance, hidden sheets and empty areas. Duplicate or blank keys are surfaced rather than forced into questionable matches.

Results separate additions, removals, modifications, duplicated keys and ambiguous rows in a searchable virtualized view. CSV and XLSX exports document the comparison instead of rewriting either source. Independent byte snapshots ensure later disk edits cannot mutate a file already loaded in the browser.
